AMOU

The Australian Maritime Officers Union (AMOU) was formed after an amalgamation with a history dating back to the 1880's

The Australian Maritime Officers Union (AMOU) was formed when the Merchant Service Guild and the Australian Stevedoring Supervisors Association amalgamated. With a proud history extending back to the 1880s the AMOU is uniquely placed to represent all professional, administrative, supervisory and technical employees in the maritime and stevedoring industries and in Port and Marine Authorities. The AMOU as an Organisation of Employees is registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009. In addition to the Federal registered Union there are state registered associations in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia. This enables the AMOU to represent members in the Federal and State legal jurisdictions.

The AMOU provides a range of employment services to members including advice on employment contract matters; employment vacancies; access to marine legal liability insurance; Superannuation support and Personal Injury (including workers' and seafarers' compensation).
